YIPPEE! This morning I have 6 chicks and several others almost there. The Dels were first and then some of the NH are popping. The Marans have started to pip, I know I have 3 piped so far. I wish I could send pic. I am afraid the photo thingy I used has changed and I have not learned how to download there anymore. I will have to learn a new way. Gloria jean


Rychicken and dirtcreature, I have had the humidity at 70% and they have had no problem with hatching. Just a thought. Gloria Jean

wow 6! L.U.C.K.Y. yea 70 sounds about right. i got mine up pretty high right now, trying to even it out at 75% at the highest so it has room to go down, and so i dont have to open it. right now its at 78%. thanks!

I am starting to feel worried.

when did you put your eggs in? and when wes lockdown suppose to be?

I just put my eggs in lockdown yesterday, so i think im behind everyone if i remember right from having to wait to put the egg in to begin with cause they where shipped.

I have NADA going on in my bator eithter. and trust me ive been looking.

sit on your hands and wait! i will be doing the same!

I was VERY worried about going from 1/2 ventilation (during incubation) to 1/3 ventilation (during hatching) on my Brinsea as indicated in the instruction book

note that the ventilation control must be at least 1/3rd open during hatching.

so I just did the best that I could. I'm horrible when it comes to determining measurements like that without using a measuring cup or other measuring device. I can't just "eye" it that way like normal people can. I almost needed a picture to show me where to set ventilation opening. And we won't even talk about humidity. That's another story.

But I guess I did something right because they have commenced to hatching.

Today is day 21. I went to the school a little bit ago, and discovered I have two pips!!!!

I was really surprised to see one was a Marans egg because I could've sworn my marans looked less developed than the ameraucanas.

DAY 20 AND I GOT 1 CHICK AND 5 PIPS....HAD TO MOVE MY EGGS TO MY FRIDGEBATOR BECAUSE I WAS HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE HUMIDITY FACTOR ON MY AQUARIUM BATOR. I HAD NO TROUBLE WITH THAT ON SAME BATOR BACK ON FEB 20 MY FIRST HATCH WITH IT WHEN I HAD A DIMMER INSTEAD OF A THERMOSTAT AND THE TRAYY WAS FULL WITH DUCT TAPE INSTEAD OF PLYWOOD........

........ARRGH......GOOD THING I AINT RUNNING DRY HATCH ON MY FRIDGE BATOR HUMIDITY IS AT 65% AND 1 CHICK POPPED OUT THIS MORNING.
