I set my eggs in the incubator on the 14th. Can I join?
My eggs were shipped from slackwater here at BYC. I ordered a dozen BBS Orp eggs and she sent 15. I was so happy. The shipped eggs looked great. I let the eggs sit for a day before putting them in the incubator. On the second day in the incubator one egg was weeping so I tossed it. On day 4 I had to add more water to the incubator so I decided to candle the remaining 14 eggs. 100% fertile. I was amazed. Everything looked great.
Monday evening around 6:15 on day 4 we were under a tornado watch. Our family meets at a local truck stop to make sure everyone is ok when that happens. The storm passed around 7:30 and we went home. There were trees down in the roadways. When we got home our property was good but we had no power! I put a comforter over the incubator hoping to keep the heat up. By the time the power was restored around 2:00 am the incubator was at 82 degrees. I was so worried.
This morning I decided to add more water and do a quick candling because it was driving me crazy. They are on day 6. I still see veins in all the eggs and 2 were moving!! I am so excited. Maybe they will be OK!

my digital thermometer says its gone up to 103.4 which is pretty high but I don't think its accurate because my non-digital was just under 100. It's good to have both.
My bator is still air as well and I have the digital and bulb on top of the eggsWhere in the bator is that thermometer located? I have 5 total in my bator...3 bulb ones on the mesh bottom, a digital one with a humidity thing set between the eggs and another bulb one on top of the eggs...I always watch the one on top of the eggs the closest...that one always reads 102 degrees, which is where I want it for my still air bator...the other always read lower.
Well all of my eggs except maybe 3 are infertile...and I can only really see into one of them...But the slight veining I have seen doesn't seem to be changing...So I'm going to toss these and start over with some .50 hatching eggs of a local guy. They are mixed breed eggs from Heritage Breed Chickens including (Hens) Speckled Sussex , Golden laced Wynndotte, Rhode Island Red, Barred Rock, Partridge Rock, Barnvelder, Orphington Ect.....
All bred by one of two pure breed french Marans Roosters , one Black copper in color the other Blue copper in color. These pairings produce many colors of chicks, often getting some laced, splash, blues, spangled, ect.. about 25% are feather footed, big dark brown eggs. Here's hoping that some hatch...
My big roo has his favorite hen and her eggs are the ones that at least one was fertile...I can't see in the others...
But we have 3 roosters, and now only 5 laying hens as far as I know...only 2 of the layers are large fowl like my big roo. The other 3 are small like the other 2 roosters. One is a close to bantam sized barnyard mix, and the other is a silkie. We are going to eat the barnyard mix. I mean he's nice and all, but the ratio isn't looking good. Nobody is fighting or being overbred, but it apparently isn't boding well for my fertility.
