Setting eggs tomorrow, anyone want to join?

I am so excited for everyone. I hope you have great hatches!!

I am a little behind most of you. My eggs went on lockdown this morning. Its driving me crazy. I am looking at them at least once an hour. My humidity is slowly climbing. Right now its 63%. Temperature is holding at 99 degrees. I keep staring for movement in the eggs knowing I just candled them this morning and they looked great. I may have a late hatch due to 2 power outages during the incubation period.

I had 14 fertile eggs developing the last time I posted. I had 2 eggs that quit sometime after the power outages. I have 12 eggs in lockdown. I can't wait to see what happens. The suspense is killing me. A few years ago when I hatched eggs it didn't bother me at all really. I had bad hatch rates but it never bothered me then. I guess I am getting older. It is driving me insane

. I usually let nature take its course. I haven't yet messed with the incubator or the eggs during lockdown. But that doesn't mean I won't in the future :)

Wish me luck!!

Here is the pip at two different times, the first pic is about 1 hour after pip and I had misted the eggs...

The 2nd and 3rd is about 4 hours later...no change except the membrane starting to dry out...

The picture isn't all that accurate, the membrane is turning slightly tannish and the little bit of blood at the crack in the membrane is dry...

That looks perfectly normal. I had eggs do that before, its fine. Just time is all you need now.

Be careful misting the eggs at this point. The baby's beak is right at that hole and upside-down, so if too much water gets in there they could drown. Let it be, if it's not strong enough to hatch, it just isn't. Nature made hatching hard for a reason. :) Patience, patience, patience.

4 pips!!!

Nice! I bet that you will have some fuzzy butts running around in the morning. I agree that the pip looks fine. If there is blood then it likely needs a bit of time to rest and absorb the rest of the yolk. I try not to do anything until 24 hours if there is no progress after the pip. I had one making no progress this AM (since yesterday) and came to find out that it's intestines are not inside but outside of it's body

after helping it. I have had that before where there is a small amount sticking out and helped it back in, but this one just wasn't going to make it

not because I helped it but it just wasn't meant to be.

I had to help the first chick, his membrane sealed shut and sally sunshine told me to open it a bit...I'm awaiting further instructions from her...

I hope it works out well. I had to help a few and they are fine :)

I still have 3 in the bator. 1 banty egg pipped and 2 more with nothing. Hatch time was officially at noon my time.

Way to go everybody!

I think we're done. My wife helped the one welsummer out that zipped and then dried - I can't tell it apart from the others. And she also culled one welsummer that was out but weak and dragging its left leg behind. We had 6 no shows(4 easter eggers and 2 welsummers), left one in the bator just incase and will eggtopsy tomorrow. So 22 out of 29. Pretty happy with our first try. I need to put the sand in the other part of the brooder to dry out, then tune in to Blzzrd's chick cam and go to bed. I still need to take pics, something to do tomorrow

Don't stay up too late!
