Setting eggs tomorrow, anyone want to join?

Well my pipper has made progress, but there seems to be some yolky type substance near the opening..? never seen that before in hatching. I can still hear some slight peeping so I hope the little guy is ok. No more pips in any other eggs, but hatch day technically isn't until Monday so I am not worried.

I think it drowned in the yolk stuff. No more pips.

So sorry. I am still fretting over what to do with mine.

I have heard people doing dry hatches too. I had my humidity at about 40% for incubation, and it's at about 65% now. I know for some breeds they say their egg shells are quite thick and need a dryer incubation as their eggs don't dry out as fast. Copper Marans are an example.

I feel so sick about it when a chick dies :(

Is it possible it's just taking a long break? One of our first pips didn't move or make a sound for at least 5 hours.

We have 3 running around now and 3 more pips. They sure do travel. They don't really roll the other eggs around, they just go over them...so far. For anyone using jar lids to boost the humidity, I hope you have a sponge or something in them to prevent the chicks from taking a bath. They also flipped over the calibrated hygrometer so humidity is just a rough guess with the other 2, but I think we're still about 75%. My wife has talked me out of opening the lid a few times to flip it back over. Still waiting for Ameraucanas and Welsummers...and 2 mutts.

no, it was totally still and lifeless. Typically I can see the beak sort of opening and closing at least or it will cheep a bit. I took it out of the incubator and lightly tapped the egg, nothing. I moved the beak a bit too with my finger to see if I could get a reaction and there was nothing
