You should get an interesting mix! I hatched some from a Speckeled Sussex roo over Barred Rocks, RIR, New Hampshire Red and White leghorn hens. I got some cute chicks

I have a question please, first time trying to incubate. I have some silkie eggs. When you put them in the incubator do you put small end down or big end down. Another question is when say the eggs some are as old a 7 days when you put them in the incubator do you start the countdown for 21 days then or when they were laid? Another question LOL if you have a automatic turner in the incubator do you have to move the eggs to another incubator for lockdown that does not have a automatic turner?

I wanted to toss a few peafowl in.. but we decided to hold off on them until next year.. any idea what color you will have?

Supposed to be bronze or split to bronze. I hope at least one will hatch...

Always put the small end down. Otherwise you will drown the chick as the air cell is at the top of the big end. You start counting from when the eggs are put in the incubator. I hand turn as I don't have a turner but yes the eggs must be taken out of the turner and either put them in a hatcher/spare incubator or remove the turner and lay them on the wire in the incubator.
I hope this helps

I candled last night! Out of 12 shipped eggs I have 8 showing great signs of growth, 3 look clear and the one that was cracked is questionable, to porous to really see well. These shipped eggs are doing well. Last bunch were a disaster

You'd put them in the automatic turner small end down. When it comes to lock down, you take out the turner, and lay the eggs down. You could also put the eggs upright in the bottom half of a paper egg carton if you'd like. It helps to put rubber shelf lining on the metal rack to protect the itsy feet of the chicks.

Well.. I decided to candle the eggs today instead of tomorrow.. my pullet eggs were unfertilized.. which I knew that was going to be a strong possibility since she had JUST started to lay.
For the shipped eggs:

12 blue/black/splash orpingtons: 2 blood rings.. 3 unfertilized.. so only 7 good eggs out of the dozen
18 blue/black/splash ameraucanas: 3 blood rings.. 3 unfertilized.. so 12 good eggs out of 18

so hoping the remaining 19 make it to the 15th
