it will be a lot easier to see all the viable babies and you can even see them move then i wouldnt candle again till lockdown

I am happy to announce after candling my 15 eggs on Day 5:

  • Veins and little spider embryos in 10 eggs
  • Possibly clear/infertile....1 egg
  • Possible blood rings.......2 eggs
  • Possible stale or stopped:2 eggs

Now I will refrain from candling until day 7. Hopefully some of the questionable eggs will prove to be little embryos too. Overall, I'm just a little excited!

With the candling at day 3, 5 and waaaaaaaaiiiiiiiittttttting until day 7!!!!! Just tell me you are getting some sleep now? With sleep I might have the energy to be excited even if I don't have much time this week. My 4-H kids are getting excited though!

my incubator got turned of and its 88-89 in there now. ok now i'm soooo worried hopfully that will be alright which i think it will be as if you think about a broodie hen getting up to go eat and drink and the eggs cool down like that so i'm sure it will be just fine...hoping so anyways

.....glad i decided to check temp and look at humidity before i go to bed

hdowden they should be fine as long as it has not been over 12 hours and under 70 degrees.
I can't even type straight anymore must be time for bed. Work was long and late last night. Hope everything heats back up well for you. Don't worry!

i'm sure it hasnt been off but maybe an 1 if that. i would think if it was off longer than that the temp would be way lower than 88-89

Hope they do OK.
An update on my eggs under my friends broodies. The silkie kept kicking eggs out of the nest and she's down to two. My friend put each rejected egg under the turkey, some were warm, some were chilled. So now the turkey is mothering most of the chicken eggs.
Most are extremely dark eggs so not much to see on candling.
