I'm really nervous for my eggs. I kept having to get up last night to check it. It was too low this time. I just know the temp jumping around took a toll on my eggs. :\ I candled one to see how it was doing and I can't tell if it's alive or not anymore. He's just kinds floating around in there. Every now and then it looks like there might have been a deliberate movement but I'm not sure. I'm such a worry wart. I'm going to do another hatch after this one anyways so I shouldn't be this nervous. But of course, I am.

I keep going to check the temp and I think it had stabilized.

Caught this thread a little late --- two days to lockdown!

I set 42 eggs on the evening of 1/20, counting 1/21 as day one. Breeds: Serama, Euskal Oiloa, Split Lav Black Ameraucana and some Leghorn Cross (Roo = Silver Leghorn, Hens = Australorp, EE, White Rocks)

1 Am, 1 EO and 1 mutt never developed. 1 Serama is questionable. Looks like the remainder will make it to lock down on Tuesday. Keeping fingers crossed for good hatch.

Hey Guys

I just have to tell you my good news. Listen up, LaynaDon, because you might want to do this to check your eggs. Remember I said yesterday that I could only see "movement for sure" in 6 eggs (out of 15)? I knew that I needed a brighter (and cooler) candler so I could really study and watch for movement.

Wellllll, for my original candler -I bought a13 watt flourescent bulb in place of my regular lightbulb. It is brighter and cooler! PLUS, I took hdowden's advice and built a 2nd candler using my DH's mini-maglite flashlight. Then, I laid them both on their sides on the table with enough space between for an egg. Maybe we aren't supposed to candle so much, but the worry was killing me! And, now I'm "egg-static" because I could see the embryo SO much better and clear movement in 10!!!!!!!!

3 still seem clear (infertile) and 2 are questionables. NEVER GIVE UP ON THOSE BABIES!

That's great! I'm really happy to hear that! :D I just took another look at mine and saw movement for sure! The hatch may be delayed a little but I'm soooo glad to see they are alive! I have been on edge all day. That little guy just made my week!
