setting eggs tonight!! anyone else?

That's great! I'm really happy to hear that! :D I just took another look at mine and saw movement for sure! The hatch may be delayed a little but I'm soooo glad to see they are alive! I have been on edge all day. That little guy just made my week!

I'm glad to hear that you saw movement. Maybe they'll hatch early since the heat went up. Then again, it also went too low, so maybe they'll hatch right on schedule!
The important thing is that they hatch. :)

i've never tried to use 2 lights and lay the egg in the middle...hmmm might have to try that one to (or might be better if i dont cause i might go back to candling everyday

yes it can be emotional mainly due to the fact that you know there are live babies developing and depending on you for them to hatch, you are mommy and if they all fail to hatch you feel bad (even if it wasnt your fault you always wonder if there was more you could have don). if its a broody with your own flocks eggs i doubt that it would be as emotional nor as eggciting.

It's amazing how emotionally involved you get doing this, huh?

Sorry - I was watching the halftime show for a few minutes. YES! It is like an emotional roller-coaster! Sometimes I wish I'd never done this first incubating because I get so stressed. But if these chicks hatch...I'll be hooked!

Yeah Cali, that's what I'll tell people. "It was all part of the plan. I turned the temp too low to balance out the heat spike... *Crosses arms smugly* Don't you wish you were as smart as me?" =P

I ultimately want a good broody or two or three... Much less work and my emotions won't be such a wreck! I'm glad humans don't have to turn eggs to get our babies! Too much to go wrong. That being said, I love doing this. I will probably still incubate some even after I have broodies. I immediately have to turn around and put another batch of eggs in to hatch after these. Hopefully then I'll remember which way to turn the dial to turn the temp up and down!

Exactly! If these guys hatch I think it will be good I don't own an incubator. We'd be getting babies once a month! I could imagine my dads face!

"Oooops, sorry Dad. You need to build another coop!" Hopefully you can sell some of your chicks and eggs to offset the cost a little. My friend runs 2 incubators almost continuously and either sells the chicks, feeds the snake or replaces her flock...

By the way, I have a cousin that lives in Fort Worth and my uncle (his Dad) lives in Weatherferd (sp?). We had a huge family reunion down there about 12 years ago before I had my son. That's the only time I've ever been to TX though.

Wow... I don't know about feeding them to a snake... She/he doesn't get very emotionally attached to hers/his eggs then, huh? Selling is not a bad idea though.

It's my opinion that everyone should live in TX and those who don't are missing out. My opinion might me a tad bit bias though... At least you got to visit. ;) I've lived here my whole life.
