It's my opinion that everyone should live in TX and those who don't are missing out. My opinion might me a tad bit bias though... At least you got to visit.I've lived here my whole life.
I wondered where you had gone! I'm glad to see you back.Hey everybody! We lost our internet at home for awhile but I'm back with an incubator update. I started with 37 shipped eggs and have thrown away 6 that didn't start and 1 that looks like it quit around day 8 - yucky. I have a couple too dark to see into but the ones I can see into have veins as of yesterday when we candled for a friend of mine & her kids. They, of course, thought it was cool! The day before I could see little feet kicking around and some feathers! The kids didn't get to see that much but still thought it was neat.
I have some pretty small eggs that look like they are filling with chick more rapidly than the larger eggs. I was thinking the smaller the egg the smaller the chick but now I'm wondering.
This batch is the first I've tried with a turner - so much less stress! And it seems to be better for the chicks too. A lot more developing. Now to see how many make it out of the shell! I'm hoping that by keeping the bator closed more, the humidity is more stable leading to the membranes being more pliable.
I'm a little nervous about taking the turner out on Wednesday - "stop turning day" - as I'll have to remove the whole thing and put the eggs back in.....I'm worried about leaving the turner in and having the chicks struggle to walk on it or getting caught in it or too close to the heating element. I'll get over it, & they will be fine!!!
I've never had this many developing/set to hatch at once!
Countdown to fuzzy butts = 5 days (ish)!!!
Good luck everyone!
