It's my opinion that everyone should live in TX and those who don't are missing out. My opinion might me a tad bit bias though... At least you got to visit. ;) I've lived here my whole life.

I grew up in Ohio, near Amish Country, which I think is beautiful. I went to college in Indiana. Then I moved to California to teach school and get married. My dad was a long distance truck driver, but we always drove somewhere on his vacation weeks. South Carolina, Georgia, Niagra Falls, NY, Missouri, Iowa, Florida, etc.
Like Texas, California is a big state with many different climates: desert, coastal, tropical, even high, snowy mountains. I enjoy California, but have been blessed to visit so many other states. I think I could be happy anywhere in America...as long as I can have chickens!

Chickens are the important thing. ;) lol

I have friends that live in Ohio. But The furthest away from TX I've ever been is Missouri. I hope to one day to visit Australia though. Dream big, right?

I have a friend who lives in London, too. :) He actually came down to visit a few months ago. He doesn't like it there much.

Well, of course. =P I'm just saying he doesn't like living there. My uncle has visited it a couple times though, so I guess he likes it. ;)

Hey everybody! We lost our internet at home for awhile but I'm back with an incubator update. I started with 37 shipped eggs and have thrown away 6 that didn't start and 1 that looks like it quit around day 8 - yucky. I have a couple too dark to see into but the ones I can see into have veins as of yesterday when we candled for a friend of mine & her kids. They, of course, thought it was cool! The day before I could see little feet kicking around and some feathers! The kids didn't get to see that much but still thought it was neat.
I have some pretty small eggs that look like they are filling with chick more rapidly than the larger eggs. I was thinking the smaller the egg the smaller the chick but now I'm wondering.
This batch is the first I've tried with a turner - so much less stress! And it seems to be better for the chicks too. A lot more developing. Now to see how many make it out of the shell! I'm hoping that by keeping the bator closed more, the humidity is more stable leading to the membranes being more pliable.
I'm a little nervous about taking the turner out on Wednesday - "stop turning day" - as I'll have to remove the whole thing and put the eggs back in.....I'm worried about leaving the turner in and having the chicks struggle to walk on it or getting caught in it or too close to the heating element. I'll get over it, & they will be fine!!!
I've never had this many developing/set to hatch at once!
Countdown to fuzzy butts = 5 days (ish)!!!

Good luck everyone!

I wondered where you had gone! I'm glad to see you back. :) I have some smaller eggs also. I'm wondering how they will fare with so much less shell then the others, but I'm sure they will be fine. Looks like a good handful of us have chicks due Saturday or close to it. :) The time has flown and inched by at the same time!

We are about to have a lot of babies around here! I'm hatching these guys on Saturday give or take a few days due to incubator problems, another batch after this, then kittens due around St. Patrick's day. We are about to be overrun with critters!!
