Ok, so. I put out some flyers today. 1 at a natural food store, 1 at a coffee shop (hey, it's worth a shot, right?) 1 at the Rec Center/Library, and 2 at feed stores. I think that's all. I cleared the answering machine, and I'm ready for business! I'll put more flyers later if I can think of any more places to put them. There is another store that has a cork board that a lot of "chicken people" frequent, so I'll put one out there. I really hope this thing takes off. That would be awesome. Now I wait and see.

As of now, I'm offering to hatch other people's eggs for them. If this does well and I get some good breeding chickens, I might start selling chicks at the farmer's market. My friend has offered to let me share her booth if I end up wanting to do that.

I'm seriously thinking about posting on Craigslist. The one in our area is pathetic, but people do get on it some. It's better than nothing.

I've asked and researched and all that good stuff. We apparently have pretty lax laws about that kind of stuff around here. As long as I make less than (a whole bunch of money that isn't even logically possible for me to make with the kind of incubator I'll be starting with. I can't remember the amount.) then I don't have to get any kind of license.

I have not had time to read all the post I have missed yet but I thought I would stop in and give a update.
I got in 7 female and 3 male CREAM LEGBARS today! They sent more than I ordered!
My local Southern states store was giving away 6 free golden comets with the purchase of a bag of feed so I got 24 golden comets females Free!
6 silver laced wyandottes females I got from my local feed store
I have 3 silkies and 4 mille fleur d'uccle that hatched and 4 splash marans

Lots of babies in the basement right now! We sold all but 4 of the black stars from my first hatch and most of the EEs. We will be doing the same with most of the new chicks once they get about 10 weeks. Not my Legbars though they are all mine lol So many people do not want to deal with babies and I love the babies so it works out. Plus what we have made has paid for all the food we have bought so far plus some.

I hope everything is going well with yalls babies and I will try to catch up on the replies I have missed.

WOW! That is a lot of babies!! Beautiful breeds, too!

So you sell most of the chicks as they get older? Do you find they sell better that way? I'm working on starting up a hatching/chick selling business, but I'm not sure how well they will sell here. A ton of people have chickens around here, so they will probably sell well, but I'm trying to work out exactly how I'm going to go about all this.

Good luck trying to catch up. I gave up the last 2 times I fell behind.
