Setting Mouse Traps. I Can't Be The Only One They Terrify.

As one who has broken a finger in a trap, I feel your pain. However, I have had to set so many traditional style traps in the past years that it doesn't make me freak out anymore. The key is, once it's set, you hold it on the edge only on the side where the trap springs FROM. THat way IF it goes, it doesn't get you. I also use a push stick to slide it deep into mouse country, not my hand.

It's the anticipation that gets me.

I've snapped a few mousetraps on my fingers while fiddling with them to see if I might be able to make a fish trap. Not one to snap on the fish, one that would shut a door when triggered. Didn't work so well.
Mousetraps hurt but don't seem to do any damage. I assume rat traps would do something bad.

Funny, :) but I have dogs. No bait in the house, my dogs like to sample everything.

Good, funny is what I wanted to come off as. But seriously, never make the woman what burns your bisques mad. Or like a local woman who was convicted for poisioning her husband, sister-in-law, and almost killing her boy friend said at sentencing.

"Yes your honor it did feel a little sympathy for my victims, but only when they asked for second helpings" :idunno:drool

i hate setting those old fashioned traps.. i use tom cat now.. the older black design is good but the new white ones, great.. and i never worry about my fingers..

regular mouse traps scare the heck out of me. My father used to set them and trying to place them - they usually went off and he did a lot of swearing. In women - venting is generally done by screaming.

The sticky ones do work but, some die a very slow, agonizing death. You don't need a visible amount of bait. I used to use a tooth pick to put down a mere dot of peanut butter, the smell alone would lure them.

I tried those plastic snapping Tomcat traps. They are still in their original places from years ago and never once snapped. What a waste of money. I couldn't even manipulate them to the point of snapping. I think even an elephant wouldn't have set it off.
