Setting on Good Friday

My husband decided to leave the windows open last night. I woke up to 10 dozen eggs sitting at 98 degrees. Hopefully they will be fine. I set mine last Sunday, so I will be candleing tonight. We'll see.

Well I set my 17 black copper marans Friday morning because someplace in the mail is the rest of my eggs if they don't show up today they can't be set until Tuesday....so I have 7 turkey eggs and 17 bc marans due to hatch together on the 23rd.

Most of my eggs are Rouen ducks. They will hatch the same time as ya'lls chicks. I will be setting some RIR tomorrow, after I see what didn't form when I candle tonight.

I think I might not be doing it the right way. This is my first time with incubator. We just brought it here yesterday (renting). I guess I should have tested it for sometime, but I already set eggs this morning (April 3rd). I started the incubator late last night. I am not sure if the thermometer is accurate. It was showing about 102F when I checked in the morning. I opened it to put the eggs in, around 11 probably, the temp drop down probably below 70F, it is 1:30pm already and the temperature is still only around 98F. I guess I should turn them soon, which means the temperature will drop again.

That's one of the reasons I like a turner, because not only does the temp go down, but so does the humidity.

Just joined BYC and I started 12 Buff Orp. and 34 Road Island Reds 4/02/10 for my first time. I am reading all I can from this site and hoping for a great hatch. Guess we will all know on the 4/23/10.

I suspect that she'll settle eventually, but it looks like the Good Friday hatch along is out.
