Setting on Good Friday

Day 21 for me. I hear chirping inside and some condensation on the windows. Can't see any pips yet, but I can't wait to see what happens by the time I get home from work. I'm glad I'm working today as well. My first hatch, I stayed home all day, and it was torture!!! Good luck and congrats to everyone that has babies already!

I told my broody that I wouldn't bother her again yesterday after finding no pips early in the day.

Thank goodness it's a new day!

I went out in the dark this morning with a flashlight and as I approached her nest, I could hear my broody do the Mama cluck. I have one that is starting to zip!!! I didn't really check the other eggs, but with just a fast glance...this little one is the only one working on hatching so far...

I have six out 3 black and 3 redish I assume are a polish mix LOL. Several more pips so i hope the rest hatch. The one i thought was a silkie was not it was a small tiny black chick so i have no idea who layed the egg it was the size of a silkie egg so who knows. This weekend we are building breeding cages to seperate everyone TG. GOOD LUCK ALL

Disappointing hatch for me.

21 chicks out of 95 eggs at setting.

Wish I knew what I did wrong.

Wow Mahonri what kind of luck is that? I hope you will be able to figure out why and again it could just be that they were shipped eggs... I hope you do better next time.

Well have 12 out 3 more pips 8 got nothen. I had to take some chicks out they were knocking the pips upside dwn and were panting so i left the last 3 wet ones in and removed shells all under like 25 seconds with the hekp of kids i tossed one that i quickly candled that had been iffy and had died as there was blood splots inside and not moving i cked a ee that had been iff saw it moving and had broke threw the air cell so should pip soon humidity only came down by 2 points. I hope the rest hatch i have a few feather feeted which i assume came from the mil fluers. I have about 50 in another bator at day 15 will candle before lock down. thus far i am very pleased i had a few hatches last spring were i lost all but 1 2xs but i think with the 2 hydrometers that are new i am keeping better humidity and temp. GOOD LUCK ALL keep us posted Oh my broody hen who is in the coop with the rest of the chickens hatched out 2 so far and seems very protective we hope to have a new pin up this weekend for the mommies.
