Setting silkie eggs today~!

Went out to check eggs one last time, and one of my developing cochin eggs is gone. I finally tossed all the empty-looking silkie eggs tonight, and when I candled, I've only got one cochin egg developing. I know a few days ago there were two developing and one clear. Now there's just one developing. No one else has access to her nest, so I don't know what happened to it.

I hope I get one chick out of this batch, even if it's not one of my wished-for b/b/s silkies.

for you and your babies...

I've got one blue bantam cochin baby. I left 3 silkie eggs in there, because I was only 95% positive they weren't developing. There is some sort of shadow in them, but it didn't look quite right to me. I'm still pretty new at this, and didn't want to risk tossing out growing babies.

As of now, I have one dry cochin, and 3 silkie eggs not doing anything. I'll check again in the morning, and if there are no silkie babies, those eggs will be tossed.

How's your hatch coming?

I hatched 2 chicks but they look to be crosses. They only have 4 toes little foot feathering and no vaults. They are cute but not what I was hoping for.

Oh man, that stinks. I'm sorry. My first batch of silkies that hatched this spring were pure silkies, but not what I was expecting either. They were all the wrong colors except one. I had asked for b/b/s eggs.

Let's get more silkie eggs and try again! I still need my b/b/s silkies, since this batch didn't hatch at all. Better luck next time to both of us!

hello i will join you, i just got my incubator up, i hope my eggs hatch, just put them in the other day, keep me posted

good luck and god bless

well what i have read and been told by other silkies people silkies can have either a closed skull meaning no vault which Does not mean it wont have a nice crest, or a vaulted head which most people like in a silkie open skull which the brain comes up from the skull a little bit which cause the vault.that in a nut shell. if i am wrong let someone jump in. 4 toes are better in a silkie in judging than having a extra 5th toe or meaning 6 in total,

Here's my mama and her one bantam cochin baby. Glad I set a couple cochin eggs with the silkie eggs, so her broodiness wasn't totally fruitless. Looks like this baby will be blue.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!As soon as I saw the word silkie I came because of my dream last night.I walked into this office. My mom had found work and was celebrating with fertile eggs she was incubating.Everyone had been really interested in her eggs. She said,"My daughter hatched eggs for a science fair, and she loved it!Then we gave away her chicks and wouldn't let her hatch agan. She got really angry! One time, when she told her father about how someone offered her a chick on a website,he started to say something she didn't like, and she said,'And who kept me from getting chickens in the first place?'Then, after I was hired,I decided to make this the best day ever for my whole family.I went to sevaral stores and got a new bow tie for my husband,a stuffed lion for my son,and fertile chicken eggs for my daughter!"After everyone else left,my mom said,"Can you come help me carry this incubator? The 3 eggs that show nothing aren't fertile."Then I saw our six silkie babies!!!Later,I got an e-mail that said,"Well, only 14 chicks is only 14 memories.Today it was 14+6 memories."
And then I woke up.AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
