The early hatcher is doing amazing! Eating, drinking and sees people as "mommy" I wanted to put her back in alast night but mama hen was just too aggressive. Last night I had four more to go, I know two had pipped already so I'm expecting some more fuzzies!
She's taking great care of her other babes, I guess she just thought baby number one was too weak.

YEAH:D Got one Brahama hatched. several piping.. a

Had to go to work and leave them... bummer.

Can't wait to see how many hatch before I get home.

Hey all. I am over here in the west and just getting up! You all are having eggciting mornings!! Congrats on all the pips and zips and chicks!!

We had our first chick hatch last night around 11:00 pm. When we went to bed it was still sitting in the half shell, but out. There was also another that had started to zip and this morning, that chick is out, too.

So two healthy chicks and nothing else. No pips, nothing. Not sure what to think.

I am dying to go out and see if the broody has chicks yet, but will wait for DD to wake up...

Pics soon...

And one that pipped last night... so here is my question... How soon until I can or should take them out of the bator? The first chick hatched in the weeee hours (12:30am) on Tuesday morning our last one hatched around 6am this morning. (it was a long night for me) Im not sure if I should take them out and get them water and food? I know they should stay in the bator at least 24 hours... but what about the one that is working on day 2? Its all confusing to me.

First Chick at 3.40pm - very exciting he/she wasnt the first to pip either so obviously a fast mover

Now he/she seems dead set on waking the others up

Yup! Just tap on that glass...

My understanding is that you should NOT open the bator if there are any eggs pipped or zipping. Your 24 hour chick is fine. Even if you put him in a brooder, he is not likely to eat or drink anything for a while. Think about the size of a yolk! He will be chewing on that for a while, yet. I think they are okay for 48 hours in there or even more. But don't quote me.

I am going to upload some pics here in a minute...
