Setting Today (03-02-2012)

Mine go into lockdown tonight (I think) I set them on Sat 03/03 at 5:30 ish. So they are due, Sat 03/24 at 5:30 ish right? That means lockdown starting tonight?

My lockdown is at 8:30pm tonight. i wish the time would hurry up. losing...patience... lol.

skunknchatter....I DEFINITELY was not going to use the medicated feed, because why would i give a newborn medicine? But after some research, and some chatting with friends, I have changed my mind about it, I will feed medicated for the first 2 weeks, after that i will start them on just regular starter feed. It is completely a personal choice so whatever you choose is fine!

How many eggs did you start with?

Only takes me forever to get back on here (been on vacation I started with 2 eggs because my hens weren't laying much yet (winter slow-down) but I couldn't wait to try my new incubator. Plus if I had waited I would have had to wait clear until May because we have several week long vacations in April. So I jumped the gun and now I have one lone egg going on lockdown. When it hatches my good friend is taking it. It's her first chick and she'll pick up a feed store chick for a buddy.

I think I'll tell her to go ahead and do the med feed for a couple of weeks.

Going on lock-down tonight at 6PM. Candled last night and that little chickie was dancing all over in that egg. Saw toes! Here's to everyone having a good hatch!!!

I have my paper towels ready, my water heated and my flashlight in hand! Now all i need is for it to get dark so i can get a good view of my eggs before lockdown! This is so exciting!

All I have to do tomorrow is sit and watch!

I would say that if she is getting a feed store chick, absolutely do the medicated! You dont know what they were exposed to during transport and we want to protect our little fuzzy butts!

Hopefully you are enjoying your vacation! Wish i was on vacation to watch my eggs hatch! I cannot believe how fast those days went by! It seemed like forever when we started now we are going into lockdown!

haven't read the last page here yet....busy with family....but i at least gotta write a quick one to let you all know that it's day 20 and i have 7 pips out of 26 eggs. not bad, i think! i have been having a hard time getting my butt outta bed ever since the time change.....it's so nice and dark outside it makes me want to sleep!!! but i KNOW that tomorrow morning i'll be hoppin outta bed! better than Christmas! (for an adult anyway....lol)

I know exactly what you mean! Tomorrow is day 19 for me, I went into lock down just a short while ago, hoping some of my bantam eggs will hatch out while i am home tomorrow! It would kill me if i miss all of them hatch! We have a webcam so i can watch at work, its just not the same! If i were you, I wouldn't even go to bed until i saw at least one hatch! Congratulations and enjoy!

Tomorrow is day 21 and I have to work from 8-4:30, I am hoping they will wait for me to get home before hatching lol..Still nothing so far.
