Setting Today (03-02-2012)

Well i'm a very patient person, but i can't seem to shake the need to go and look at the eggs. I just want to sit very sereen in front of the incubator.
It makes me very calm insite, weird isn't it.

I don't have the need to candel for now anyway. But i will do it on day 7, probably on day 14 and before i go in lockdown.
I do have a candeling light, but i missplaced it. My little girl probably found it and took it to play with. So for now i use a led flashlite.

I just candled all 15 eggs and all have veins and are doing great :)

Just 16 days to go!!!! I'm so excited could you just imagine a 100% hatch rate? I only had 12 out of 50 hatch out of my last hatch.

I just candled my eggs and I can see veins in the white one for sure. Nothing in the brown egg that I can see yet. I'll check them again on day 7. I'm just so excited I could see some development in my white egg. Maybe I'll get a chick or two after all. Only bad part is, now that I've seen it's developing, I'll be that much more bummed if something goes wrong and it doesn't hatch or dies during/after hatch. Oh well. For now I am excited.

My white egg (can see development) was laid 3 days before my brown egg (no development that I can see yet) and was stored at about 63F. Could the white one be a little ahead of the brown because of that?

Seems I'm a slacker. I set them and all I do is check temps and humidity once a day. THe sportman is the lazy guys best friend, it takes care of the rest. This morning I was at 34% and 99.5, stays there all the time. Turned the eggs 59 times, sure glad I didn't have to do that. I think it turns them every hour, not sure but glad I'm not doing it.

I won't candle till the 13th at the 10 day mark. Just figure why disturb them in the early stages, by day 10 I can see the development and the air sac has enlarged. Then I won't touch them again till I move them to the hatcher. One exception, I do look in the incubator every evening, if I see any bubbles coming out of an egg, I will pop open the door and dispose of that egg.

I got all white eggs this time around for that very reason, I had Maran mixes and cornish mixes and they were so hard to tell what was going on.

I wish I had an egg turner so I didn't have to do it by hand.

So I gave into temptation, with my boyfriends help may i add, and candled 4 of my 48 eggs, 4 days in and one white one was clear but the other 3 had veins and heartbeats, even my green EE egg! Yahoo!!!!

I cannot wait til friday to candle them all! I know i will have some clears but with 48 eggs and of the 4 with only one clear i think i am doing pretty good for a first timer!! I did not even try any of my brown ones yet! But you bet i will be checking them all on FRIDAY!

Has anyone else candled to see what is going on in those little eggs?

Most of my eggs are bantams with only 12 reg sized ones, the clear one has its air sac that moves from end to end so i am pretty sure its a dud!

Let me know what everyone else is up to!

Hoping for a great hatch for ALL!

I candled all of my eggs. I like to do so frequently to check for duds. So far..all 17 of my set eggs are developing. I see clear veining (even in the brown ones).
