Yes Chkinut this time the week flew by! And I cannot wait to lock down on Tuesday night!

getting excited! went to walmart to get 2 moving boxes so i can make my brooder. this time i have to have the brooder inside a dog crate due to a bulldog puppy (not an english bulldog) that is 10 months old. the crate will protect the chicks. and today i got my red heat lamp down and checked it....it's in working order. but i also bought a normal (not red) heat lamp (just the bulb). i bought one cuz my red one has been used for over a year now, not that i have babies a lot throughout the year....but still, i would hate for it to go out and then for me not to have a backup light. but it won't be long before they're outside anyway. it's so warm now!!! i think a couple of you are ahead of me. mine are suppose to hatch on the 21st.

I still have to have hubby build me another brooder. We are using a toddle bed frame and going from there. They are due to hatch around the 24th.

The 22nd it day 20 for me! I do have mostly bantams, so i anticipate that they will hatch on day 19 or so! Hopefully because i am home all day on the 19th day! I am at work all day 630a-730pm on the 20th day, maybe they will wait til i am home so i can watch them. My boyfriend got a web cam today and he is going to set it up so i can watch from work in case something happens when i am at work! I am also considering getting some boxes because i have only 1 extra large storage bin that i was going to use as a brooder.....but now that i have 34 eggs that are growing very well, I am thinking i am going to need more room!!!

I bought a plastic container for my brooder box... i already set it up (yesterday) to try out the lamp with the pine wood... It gets up to 95 degrees!!

I am soo excited. I'm not going to candle any more, which is against my will power. I had my mom hide my flashlight.

I do my last candeling tonight since I set them on the first. I moved them down to the bottom of the incubator and set the web cam up I'm so excited.

pretty neat for some of you to have webcams! also pretty cool that we're all startin to get ready for the big day!!!! we'll have an exciting week coming and i'm sure lots of posts!! can't wait to hear everyone's experiences! oh, and pics!!!

I have one question.....

My question is for anyone who has the answer, I know the chicks have to be given heat, 95 degrees in the brooder, and i also know i have to reduce the heat.

The question is, When do i reduce the heat and how much do i reduce it by?

I put 12 RIR eggs into the bator (2 died) so I now left with 10 eggs (which isn't bad)
I was thinking about a card board box too but then I'd thought it would get all soggy at the bottom with pee....
