I have 4 pips on the 7 welsummer eggs I set on September 14th. So excited to get some welsummers. They will join the ten other chicks that hatched Saturday and Sunday (Set Sept. 12th).

just think...when they do hatch they will be nice and ready and healthy...my temps read 102 at times but I trusted my bator more than the thermometer, maybe that's why they are hatching early for me?

It was supposed to be a staggered hatch, but the welsummer eggs were a little delayed, and I was too antsy to get the incubator going. So I started most of my eggs that Monday, and when the welsummer eggs arrived, I added them to the bator on Wednesday. Patience isn't my strong suit!

So far it's working out fine, though.

My two older granddaughters came over last night, and we took their photos with some of the chicks - one at a time with lots of caution to be gentle and to put them right back into the brooder. Here are two of the pics:

So far I have 1 BR, 2 RIR, 3 RIR/NH mix, 2 Light Brown Leghorns and two GLW.

Thanks - I'm very partial to those two little girls!

Yes, they are holding the two RIRs. Or it might be the RIR/NH crosses - not sure which one - but they're very similar in looks.
