setting today 9/15/11 - anyone else?

Well my temp is freaking out now it has lowered since i put the sponge in and raised the humidity it's been reading 97.2 non of my eggs a doing anything yet do those digital reading ones freak out once in awhile cause i think mine is heck i dont know because my regular therm is reading 99.5 why does it have to start freaking out now dang things

When I was on my way to the laundry room to awhile ago, I glanced in the bator - and an egg had fully zipped since the last time I'd checked it about fifteen minutes earlier! The chick hatched - and almost immediately another one finished zipping and hatched. So I have two little welsummers running around the bator chirping their little heads off. Two other eggs have pipped. YEA for pretty welsummers!

Oh yeah i still havent told my wife that i have all these eggs in the incubator she thinks i have enough chickens already i have put them in my candle room where i do my work and stuff and no one goes in there this should be fun when she starts hearing the little chirps i might be sleeping out on the couch for a few days but it will be worth it!!!

I had one hatch last night early, and one early this morning. I have 2 more that are pipped. I hope they pick up the pace, there are 20 more that need to do something. Best thing is that something hatched. Being my first, I count that as a success.

Is there a point that you reach in and grab the ones that are out and leave the rest to finish??

Congratulations to everyone who has new chicks - new pips and new zips!
I got two more welsummers this morning! I think that's all that are going to hatch. Out of 25 eggs in a staggered hatch, I got 14 chicks - which makes me so very happy for my first hatch.

So I got the following:

2 RIR
3 RIR/NH
1 BR
2 GLW
4 Welsummers
2 Lt. Brown Leghorns

that is funny but so true...I just order eggs and then when they arrive in the post I pretend I know nothing about them and exclaim..."I wish that person would stop sending me eggs!"...the last clutch I set in the bator on the kitchen table then when DH came I was like...SURPRISE!

anyway...I still only had one pip this mroning but she was still moving...i don't really expect anything till Thursday as I set on a Friday morning and silkies take longer to hatch sometimes I was told?

My hubby suffers the same fate... he has given up trying to keep track of my chickens.

If any of you are interested, I have a streaming hatch cam up. So far, three babies out and one more pipped... hard to see the other eggs due to steam on the windows.

Some of the air cells were messed up from shipping, so I may help some of these out if they are in there too long... tomorrow is day 21, so trying to wait and see untl then.

After hatching out 14, I decided to get three other chicks from a nearby fellow BYC'er in order to replace the little blue/grey rock that died. They're all within a week of the same age. Yes, that's right - I got THREE chicks to replace the ONE chick that died. It's all part of chicken math. I wonder if my husband will notice that there are three extra chicks in the brooder? We'll see.
