Settings for Brinsea Octagon Advance EX Question...

Hi guys..
I got my new Brinsea..Love it! Anyway, I have it all set up and am giving it a test run..But the settings when you first set it up, I know that the temp is preset at 99.5 but then when I get to the RH it says on the display "20% EX Only" Now does that mean I leave it alone?(preset) or change it to the desired 40-45% ? Just wondering..Because when I tried playing around and changed it to the 40% the RH went up into the 50's? ..I was gonna call Brinsea but they are closed today..Thanks in advance for any input..Everything seems to be hooked up right..

I changed mine to the 45%. If you don't get any answers here, you can go to the Brinsea FB page and ask there. They will answer you. Good luck. I'm calibrating my Brinsea as we speak!

The "20% EX only" refers to the RH when you are using the humidity pump. If you are not using the pump, ignore that screen. If you ARE using the pump, this is where you can adjust the amount of RH you want it to maintain.

That "EX ONLY" is example only, not EX unit only... Poor choice of terms on that display but short space to display it. Raise it to 45%. (I use 46% because I like the way it looks and I'm perverse that way.)

Thanks! I will set it accordingly..I just thought maybe it was preset because of the EX model and the humidity pump so I didn't know if I was supposed to change it...Ok thanks!

to calibrate to a known thermometer place the thermometer about 1 inch above the floor of the basket, on the centre line, and with the bulb 3 inches from one end. Then:

Leave the machine to warm for at least an hour.
Press all three buttons to go into the calibration menu.
Press OK to select temperature calibration.
Adjust the figure in the display to match the thermometer in the basket.
Once they have settled together press OK and then scroll to SAVE and press OK again.
