settling older birds...?

so today i am picking up a new bird. She is a white homing pigeon and she guy i talked to said she is an adult, i dont know exactly how old though. he said that she is not paired with another bird. the reason im getting her is because i am one female short in my small flock and i have a lonely male. How long should i keep her in the loft before she can be let out to fly? some people say you should let them raise a batch of babies before you let them out. can i ever let her out? thanks!

I have heard, that if you get a homer and the person you got it from has already let it out many times, the bird may try to come back to its original loft, if you let it out. I think it also depends on the age of the bird.
