Seven Chickens Dissapeared without a trace.

My husband has seen two large dogs running through our property in the evening didn't get a for sure on breed as it was a bit darker. I did some asking around today and we believe at least part of the problem to be a large german shepherd and a white dog. My husband said that fit what he saw for dogs and all of our closer neighbor's we know them and their dogs, nobody has two large dogs that run amuck... And also this gal that is new in town that owns them a couple weeks ago chewed some of the locals out for opening their water gate on their day to water their garden and yard (our community has water rights on property and it's split up that different areas get different days for watering, yes old fashioned but great, love our community minus this rude new woman) because her dogs had just been groomed. So I'm rooting for the issues is her dogs and I get the pleasure of dealing with this lovely lady. Looking for a game cam to put up. But what do we think folks. A german shepherd would probably be smart enough to move the block and strong/dexterous enough to pull gate open?

no I think that some one stealing your chickens because a dog can't push our pull a brick so find a camera soon before you have no chickens or evidence I the camera to show something or someone stole your birds

Okay thanks for the advice. I might just wait up tonight, couldn't get a game camera yet. They would have to come from quite a bit further away because I'm positive it's not our closest neighbors. We are either family or good friends with our closest neighbors, this is typically the kind of community where people or their families have lived here for a long time an we hold each others and ourselves accountable. Why on earth would someone steal chickens that aren't even laying yet!?

Thanks! I will do! I've got my guns loaded up for whatever it is. I'm looking through our ammo hopefully we have some bird shot that would do nice for a big dog I think. And if it is a person they better hope they can outrun me haha.

I was a building superintendent and property manager for 10+ yrs. This sounds like a human-related issue. Theft? People do it for any and all reasons, but the easiest way to deal with this is to put up a camera. ebay sells wireless battery motion activated cameras for as cheap as $10 including shipping. don't leave anything to chance. it also protects you.
