I got my chicks today - the rainbow assortment from Meyer. I got 7 chipmunk chicks. As far as I know they could be welsummer, light brown leghorn, speckled Sussex or Easter Egger?

They all have pointy combs. 4 of them are more black on the back and their feet and beaks are more pink than tan. They are a tad smaller than the others. Maybe brown leghorn?

The other three are more brown on their backs and have feet and beaks that are more tan than pink. But looking at this first pick below, i’m not sure if they are two different types or three chicks of the same breed. These two look different. Welsummer on the left and speckled Sussex on the right?

The brownish ones may be Speckled Sussex. The blackish one I'm less familiar with and am taking a wild guess it might be Black Australorp.

Speckled Sussex are intense individuals. Every one of mine were unique and wildly different from one another and each was as full of personality as your most pampered and spoiled Hollywood actresses. Two of my SS hens were regular crowers.

They're adorable. Reminds me of some of our last group of chicks from a couple months ago. They are from Meyer as well and included some of both their rainbow and rare assortments.

Of our 4 chipmunks, 1 was a cream legbar and 3 were EE. The EEs looked a lot like your second group of chipmunks. The legbar was smaller with different markings and was part of our rare assortment but you never know.

It's tough with all the chipmunk breeds. We weren't totally sure on ours until a few weeks in. Some around here are probably better than me at differentiating between them that young.

We had 3 that looked somewhat similar to your cute dark colored chick. They ended up being a blue andalusian, a jersey giant, and a black olive egger with white speckles and a little crest (guessing maran/legbar lines).

We enjoyed figuring out what they all were and were happy with Meyer overall. Good luck with them!
