I have two SS roos and one bantam buff brahma roo - and my bantam roo is the loudest also. I am just offering something to think about...it has been my experience that roos are different around hens then they are when they are away from hens. Since one of the roos is your sons best friend, if he changes because he is "doing his job", he may be protective which may include protecting from your son. If this happens you can separate the roos and he will once again be bonded with your son.
