I know my chicken has some sort of bugs and she looks like she is on her death bed. I was advised to Seven Dust and give her Red Cell vitamins for horses. I picked them both up but, I just read the back and I am quite confused. The container of Seven dust say not to use it on animals or humans.

I am confused aren't I going to have to put the seven dust directly on her to get rid of them? If so how much and where to I put it on her? Do I put it all over her and close to her skin. Do I also apply it on her head? I think by reading the bottle they might be concerned with them inhaling it, if I put it on her head is this something I should be concerned with. Any help is greatly appreciated and please explain it as simply as possibly. I really want to help her but, I am really new to this and I have never had to deal with this before and if you throw an overwhelming amount of info at me I just get confused. Please explain in simple terms what I need to do so I can save her.

Okay now about the Red Cell vitamin for horses, I was told to give her this to help her get her strength. How much do I need to make sure she gets in her. Right now she won't eat so I am gonna have to force it down her.

Quick responses would be greatly appreciated so I can take of her before she kicks the bucket.

Thanks so much for the help,
Michelle

Just look at that face, you know you want to help save her.

There are varying beliefs on whether or not to use sevendust. But, I think that if your chicken is very ill, you will try any and everything. Make sure you use in a well ventilated area - outside is best. "Dust" your arms first so the "bugs" will not crawl up them while you are dusting the bird. I say "dust" as I have found it better to place it in your hands and rub it on your arms so that you are not inhaling too much dust. Then poor more into your hands and rub them under the bird's wings, ruffle through her feathers and make sure to get her bum, too. If she is well enough, when she preens, the dust will get to her face (you could probably get her neck for her, but try to stay away from her eyes, nose). Good luck. P.S. description or pics of "bugs" may help.

Thank you so much for you response. I think I am gonna start with this, she is soooooo weak. Here is a link to one of my other posts, I described the bugs the best I knew how. Thanks for you help.

What is your opinion on the horse vitamin someone suggested I use. Do you know how much to use?

I am not familiar with the red cell vitamin. I have use sevendust on my dogs and my chickens (but only once as that was all that was needed). Make sure you are feeding her during this as birds can pretend to eat and be well, when in fact they are not. I give mine yogurt mash (just add feed to the yogurt) and hand feed it to the bird. Sometimes you will need to start with a syringe of yogurt next to the side of the beak first until they are strong enough to eat from your hand. Dust her immediately and then start feeding, vigilantly. The less she eats, the more often you should feed her. And of course make sure she gets water, too. Some say to add electrolytes or probiotics (but she should be getting this from the yogurt). She needs the strength to fight off her attackers.
