Hey every one,

I've had chickens for a bout 2 years now. I've I heard all the stories of the city making you give them up. So, I read up on my city ordinances and I found this quote and this is the only chicken quote I could find.. " No person who is the owner or keeper of cattle, sheep, geese, ducks, turkeys, chickens or other fowl or animals shall permit them to run at large upon any public place, or upon any enclosed lands, or upon the premises of another." So that's all I could find. Does that say yes then? Can anyone give me some advice on how to find some more regulations?
Thanks! :)

no expert here, but it looks to me like you aren't allowed to have them leaving your property. Are they free rangers who can wonder into the neighbors yard or are they penned up? I does talk about people who own chickens though, does not say you can't keep/harbor/own chickens.

I would agree. I'm no expert, but what I understand it to say is that if you own them, you just have to make sure they stay on your property. I would recommend that anyway, since neighbors who aren't bothered by your chickens are less likely to complain about them. But I would think you're ok.

Thanks for the replys. :D I did some more research on it. And I found more info, that stated so much material, what I found in it though: no abnormal pets: like farm animals. My neighbors don't mind them, so that's good. I'm not going to try to fight the law to make them legal, until I have too. That's when the city tells me I have to rehome them. But hopefully that won't happen. I think we should have the right to know where our food is coming from!!!!!!!! Oh yeah does anyone think I should have a patision for a back up plan to prove that ll neighbors around me don't mind them?? Reply are greatly appreciated!!

I wouldn't mess with getting a petition together just yet. It might be a good idea to chat with your neighbors, though, and make sure they are on your side if things should ever come to that point. And as long as nobody complains, I wouldn't think you would run into a problem. Just make sure the chickens are not bothering any of your neighbors, and give them fresh eggs whenever you can, so they see your chickens as a positive thing and not a problem.

Good luck!
