1) What type of bird , age and weight.
White Leghorn Pullet 20 weeks not laying yet

2) What is the behavior, exactly.
Left wing being held closer to the ground, opening and closing mouth constantly, won't fly anymore, not as flighty as normal, weird one-finally caught her today and noticed this bone or ligature? seeming to run through the side of her crop. Not sure if it's part of her wing. Hard to explain, but never noticed it on other birds.

3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?
Wing issue since Friday night, mouth thing yesterday and the others since friday

4) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
NO

5) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
DH had to use a net to catch her Friday evening because she wouldn't go in the coop.

6) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
Water with vitamins/electro's, and feed

7) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
Normal texture, but greenish

8) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
None,
9 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
Must treat myself.
10) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.

11) Describe the housing/bedding in use
Shed like coop, newly built actually, shavings in boxes, Humus with DE on floor

Hello-

Are you saying it looks like there is a bone or something stuck in her crop? I am not sure because of your description.........can you take a pic?

It is something that I feel running from under her head then bows outwards and connects to the top of her wing. Not sure if it's always been like that though because she will never let me hold her...hard to take apicture because it's not sticking out extremely but in comparison to her sister from just looking with my eyes her crop area looks bigger, but it's not full. I think it's that bone or whatever bowing out rounded that makes it look that way.

please see if you can post a picture asap....I'm sure it will help us help you.

Thanks all who's helping me, I swear everyday I learn something new about chickens!! I am loving it although it sure is tough when one gets sick or worse...

Anyone? I figure there must be more people on the board as it gets to be "after-dinner" time...

The pictures don't help too much - as far as understanding what you're noticing with the crop. If it weren't night, i would go grab one of my chickens and feel around to see if i could figure out what it is. Do you think she swallowed something dangerous that's making this happen?

If i'm understanding what's happening, i think i would isolate her and withdraw food for 12 hours or so and do a really close examination (whether she likes it or not; you're bigger than she is) and see if i could determine what's happening.

Just re-read some of your first entry. Maybe she ate a feather. The fact that she's opening and closing her mouth like that might indicate that there's something you could see if you looked down her throat. From the sound of her temperament, you're going to need two people for this, but it's worth it. I'm wondering if you might be able to stick some tweezers down there and pull out a piece of straw or a stiff feather.
