Severe BUMBLE FOOT

Hi all,
I have a Silkie rooster who’s been struggling with severe bumblefoot, and the infection is affecting both of his feet. The infection has gotten much worse, with a very foul smell. I’ve tried removing the kernels and have been using Vetericyn antimicrobial poultry care spray, but the odor is intensifying, and I’m worried it’s spreading. However, I am unsure as to how he got it as his coop has been kept very clean.

Does anyone have experience with more aggressive treatments for bumblefoot, especially when it’s this severe? I’m open to stronger topical creams or sprays, or any other treatment suggestions. The infection seems to be deep, and I’d appreciate any recommendations for products that could help, including antibiotics or other options.

Are you putting a longer lasting antimicrobial on the wound before wrapping it up, or just vetricyn? I had some stubborn bumblefoot cases last year and had to iteratively drain & remove kernels, clean with vetricyn, dab dry around the outside, apply neosporin ointment pretty directly into the hole, apply drawing salve over that, then wrap and leave for 24h before repeating. As the foot improved I would leave it longer between sessions.

The neosporin that's safe to use with chickens is the original ointment with neomycin sulfate, bacitracin zinc, and polymyxin B sulfate.

I highly recommend using tricide-neo for bumble foot. I had 3 salmon Faverolles with persistent (year long) bumblefoot and lost foot feathers, after a week of using a tricide-neo dip it cleared up within a month and they haven't had it since.

I have a sf with what looks like advanced bumblefoot, abscesses all over her foot and toes but doesn't have the characteristic big one in the center of her foot. Do you think it would work on that?

Do you feel this would work for a sf that seems to have multiple abscesses on toes and feet but without the traditional one in the middle?
Her feet are swollen with what looks like multiple white heads under the skin, I've tried digging a couple out and it looks cottage cheesy.

Oh man I have never seen that and wouldn't feel comfortable suggesting anything for it. I'm so sorry I can't be of help!
