Hello

We picked up 2 1+years old runners a couple weeks ago and today one of them started limping. We picked her up and she has quite a few large sores on her feet that look like they would have been present for quite some time. We checked out the other and she also has a few on each foot but not as bad.

We're reading that we should give them Epson salt baths twice a day until it starts to clear up (hopefully). We moved the two of them inside for now as we have been getting copious amounts of rain in the area for weeks its like a pond out there.. is there anything else we should be doing to help clear it up? They've become moms of our young flock so we want to do whatever we can to make sure they're going to be okay.

Note: I know I should have looked these birds over better when I purchased them from the buyer. However this is now what we need to deal with and we want to make sure we do all we can to get them back up and healthy. We've checked our 6-7 week old birds and they all look good. Our run and area they free range isn't rocky or concrete (almost entirely grass or dirt).

Can you post pictures of their feet? Soaking their feet in Epsom salt water is a good start [you don't want them drinking it though it is also a laxative and can cause dehydration] I use a bucket and stand them in it while holding them. I have also use a towel around their necks to keep them from sticking their heads down into the bucket to drink and it also keeps them inside the bucket longer. If they have scabs the Epsom salt will help soften them up so you can remove them and get the infection out. Another way is to use Epsom salt poultice [TSC] you can put it on their feet then wrap but first get pictures so we can see how bad the bumble is.
It's a good thing you did get these girls becasue if bumble isn't treated it can get into the bloodstream and kill them.

I will send some pictures tomorrow as they're very stressed. They aren't that used to us yet so we'll give them a bit more time.

We went to check on them and one seems to be pooping blood and panting. Its a dark red and black. When we were checking out her feet earlier she had pooped a few times and it was of normal color.

Here's some pictures of the feet of the girl who was limping. We did the epson salt bath for 20 minutes then attempted to remove the infection on the lumps that had the black head on it. It wasn't as simple as some of the YouTube videos show...
