Severe Neglect Case! (Photos)

How are the goslings doing today?
They’re doing great! A little wobbly, but energy levels are still high. They are loving the Mazuri food and have started to form a bond with me, crying whenever I’m out of sight 🥺 Had to order the liquid vitamin B, TSC was out, but it should be here by Friday!

The two smaller goslings seem to be okay too, they just have minor scabbing on their feet and are slightly pigeon toed, so they’ll be getting the Vitamin B over some mushy peas lol

Awwww! I had to watch that a couple of times, they're so cute! I can't wait to see them when your TLC has worked its magic and their terrible beginning is just a memory.

BTW, the little goose's legs don't look bowed or otherwise look like they're showing signs of severe niacin deficiency to me, so hopefully you've caught it and are addressing it before it even becomes an issue for her (or the ganders). :fl

It is SO upsetting to hear and see such depravity! My great grandma, RIP, would always say "if someone is willing to hurt an animal, they would most likely hurt a child".

I wouldnt use corid on them i dont think they can get cocci which corid is for
I know typically the odds of them having it are low, but I read through Storey’s again and with the condition I found them in and some of the symptoms matching up I’m treating it as a better safe than sorry. Their poops are looking better, but it could be the better feed/living conditions or the corid working it’s way through them.

I would post to groups, let as many people know as you can, he needs to be shut down and the last thing he should be doing is hatching more eggs!

Also why would he cut off the back toe? Does he think they grow spurs like roosters? Does he know anything about geese or any birds? This is horrifying.
I see it's already been discussed, but it's probably a method of identification he's using. similar to toe/web punching. The mark may indicate the year they were hatched, or it may indicate what pair they were from.
If it is the same toe on all of them, then it is probably meant as a method of identification (like a legband, but more permanent and with some rather obvious problems.)
This was my thought process also.

Sounds like you're doing everything you can for them. I'd be giving them lots of good food and supplements like you're doing, and lots of freshwater for baths, Clean water will help the feet. if you have access to green grass I'd get them started on that also.

If they do have bumblefoot, I can also recommend tricide neo. My duck had a really, really bad case of bumblefoot (I didn't check their feet often enough - lesson learned!). I did nightly tricide neo for about a month. Her feet are perfect now! Might be an option if other methods don't yield results.

And I echo what others are saying: BLESS YOU for doing this! I am so happy you saved them, and I hope the #^&<$^*! that did this to them gets what's coming to him.
