Severe sinus infection, what can I do? Been to Dr three times already!

Be careful with mixing over the counter drugs with any prescription drugs that your Dr. may have given you. Check with your pharmacy before taking them together.

Hope you feel better soon...

OK...sometimes they both can have the same ingredients ~ didn't want you to load up on them.

Take care and hope you get over it soon.

Thanks for the good advice

It is very dangerous to mix medications when you don't know what you are doing.
I hope I get over this mess soon. I am not sure how long I can stand to have this constant pain before I snap

I may have to try that out. Sounds perfectly horrible but at this point, what the heck

Neti Pots Suck, but they work, remember how bad I was early last year, not so much this year. Once you get the hang of using one it isn't really that bad.

yep they scare me but my friend swears by them. Have you thought of trying sinus busters? its all natural and I hear it works.

My sister had swollen Alnoids (sp?) and had to have surgery for it ist was so bad and it still gets bad but at least she can breath through her nose a little now where as for years she coulkd not at all.

Sorry you feel so bad that is very painful.

Are you using a nasal spray? Don't use Afrin because that causes a rebound effect. Your Dr. should have some free samples, get them and use it. Along with the anti biotics it really helps. Nasonex is an example.
It could be allergy related. When I lived in Oregon I always had sinus and yeast infections. The molds there wreaked havoc on me.
Also, with some really bad infections you may need up to 30 days of anti biotics! The other thing I find helpful is warm compresses and massage. Start feeling around on your face where it hurts. You will be surprised what you can make feel better with this. Be careful around your eye area, sharp nails can cut when massaging.
I actually push carefully deep and up into the eye socket (feeling the underside of the bone) above, below and the entire eye. Go around it like a clock. You will feel pressure and pain and possibly nodules. Gently massage and or push for a bit on the nodules.
Around the cheekbones too.
The key to this is experimenting. Pay attention to where it hurts (and feels the best) after massaging.
Lots of fluids to flush toxins. Vitamin C, airborne, stay away from refined carbs and sugars (they seem to aggravate mine so who knows)

Last resort is surgery.

I have some Flonase that the Dr gave me to use to spray my nose twice daily with. I have been using it.

I have a friend with severe sinus infections (he travels on airplanes a LOT) but he swears by the netti-pot, he gets sick unless he uses it every day.

Another alternative is Hydrasense:

Same principle, not as gross!

Good luck!!

I did Flonase a couple years ago and it never did a great job, Dr Ou switched me to Nasonex and it is much better, when I remember to use it. Try warming a wet washcloth in the micrwave and placing it over your face, that may help relieve some of the immediate pressure. Do you have any Saline Spray?
