I receintly took my roo to the vet who did a skin scraping to find mites (embarrassing!) and used a blacklight to show me fungus from ringworm!
After my inital shock he didn't give me any advice and he didn't treat the roo. He just repeatedly told me to wait for his call tomorrow. Well, he never called...
After reading treatment plans on here I have a good idea of what I need to do but, if I use sevin dust, can I still eat the eggs?

I would first try diatomacious earth for the mites, if it was me. We use that around our house perimeter to keep sugar ants away too. It's just tiny crushed shells that affect insects. We get it at the grocery store.

Did the vet find mites? If he did....use Sevin dust to kill them. DE is a preventative and will not work for an infestation. If you use Sevin the eggs are safe to eat.

The ringworm has me stumped....maybe someone else will know what to recommend.

I do know that I will recommend that you call the vet on Monday and ask if he has more info for you and why the heck he didn't call you.....but in a nice way.

No advice or treatment??????No payee billie when statement comiee in mailee

Please note I am very new to chicken world, but I do know, that sevin is banned here in Ontario, it kills alot of things..(Not that it would kill you, but we all consume enough pesticeds without us adding it to our food)
I realize you need to get rid if the mites, though

I would worry about eating the eggs, maybe wait a week or something till it may be out've the system.. Hope fully someone else chimes in..

For the ringworm you might try an OTC antifungal cream for athlete's foot. It is what my dr perscribed for my daughter when we thought she had it. Don't know why it wouldn't work on your roo. You just have to apply it a couple times a day for two weeks???? I think it has been quite a few years since we had to do it. If you put him in a small seperate pen for that time it would make it easier to apply. Also, I'd call the vet back. You paid for his/her medical advice and he/she owes it to you.
