Sevin Dust on your chickens?

Does everyone just do it on an "as needed" basis? I have 1 silkie rooster that refuses to dust himself normally and has small red bugs all over him. I haven't seen any on any of the other birds in the coop but should I dust everybody just to be safe? I don't want to over do it.

Treat everyone!!! If you use dust, wear a N95 dust mask. Also clean out the bedding, apply the permethrin dust or spray on the floor and around the coop, and add new bedding. Wear that dust mask! I use Ivermectin on the birds to minimize my dust exposure (one ml. per 80 lbs. of bird) and it works for me. I only treat when there's evidence, and I inspect random birds at least weekly. Mary

Thanks for the info. It would have been nice if you posted some of the natural alternatives to pesticides that work for you. The internet is so full of cr@p. You just don't know what really works, that's why I come to the site. It's full over good advice.
