Sewandgrow's Second "Almost" Annual Friends of a Feather Poultry Party Turlock, CA May 18, 2014

Wow - I am having so much fun catching up on this thread after my marathon month of 14 hour work days - finally done with the project and I can't wait for Sunday!!! Karen, I will pm you with some questions but will bring a folding table in case it is needed, and will pick up ice when I get close. I have a ton of birds available but haven't thought through the keepers well enough to put together a thoughtful list. Here are some birds that I know are available - pm me if you have any interest:

2 pairs of dwarf olandsk - 10-12 weeks old
1 pair of black mottled japanese bantams - 9 weeks old
3 black mottled japanese bantams - straight run (but looking very much like pullets) - 7 weeks old
blue english orpington cockerel - hatched from Just Struttin' Farm's breeding - 13 weeks old
project polish - crele laced (some don't like me using that description but it is the most accurate description I have!) - Just Struttin' Farm's breeding - 10 - 16 weeks old
project bantam cochins - from confetti and blue confetti projects - wide range of colors and patterns - 6 - 12 weeks old

I am also planning to rehome my gorgeous calico crele polish rooster Hodgepodge. I absolutely love him, but need to cut down and he is just so loud - I try to keep the noise level down a bit so my neighbors can enjoy peaceful weekends, but it is tough with so many boys. I am going to cull a lot, but can't bear to cull him. Here is a picture of him from a few months ago - he is gorgeous, and gentle, and friendly, and makes me want to have a house in the country so that I can have 100 roosters just like him!

He's beautiful!!! I recently had to take my boyfriend Zorro to the farm. His crowing bothered my weekend boyfriend!

Now I'm in the process of taking all of our crowing or soon to crow cockerels to the farm, too. We put up a death row pen but I do have a few Bresse and Langshan cockerels in there that I will be keeping for a while before selling or using for breeding. Finding space for them to grow out is challenging. There is lots of room at the farm but a shortage of pens. I'm looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!

My list of available birds is not as long and impressive as Papa's or Dyann's. I do have a wide range of ages available, though! Almost all of the mix chicks have Zorro for a daddy. I do have a few mix chicks from the farm and their daddy would be one of my Langshan roos in the field. IM me if interested! Karen and Jules are both getting Pita Pintas to breed which I am thrilled about. That will make 6 of us that I know of that have or will have breeding flocks of these amazing birds!

Chicks straight run ages 4 days - 4 weeks

Pita Pinta
Pita Pinta sexed chicks ages 5 weeks- 10 weeks

Sexed chicks ages 5 - 10 weeks

Pita Pintas
Pita Pinta/Cream Legbar mix sex links (pullets will lay green eggs and boys should be good eating)
Pita Pinta mix (mamas are from my laying flock which all lay brown eggs or might be unmarked PP/CL mixes that will lay green eggs)

3 sexed Pita Pinta/Splash Langshan pullets around 16 weeks old so getting close to POL. These girls are blue with lightly feathered legs. They should be good layers of brown eggs and bigger than the Pita Pintas when full grown.

I also have two Bresse Pullets that are around 16 weeks old that I might be persuaded to part with as well as a pullet and 3 cockerels that are 14 weeks old. I'm toying with the idea of adding a pen at the farm and breeding them again. I miss them and George really wants to sell eggs.

Debbie,
There are some BCMs available I think. Look back on the last couple of pages & see who has what to offer & PM them direct. They probably want to make direct contact to bring the birds you want. I made arrangements for the birds I will be getting from different breeders directly.
My address is 649 South Commons Rd Turlock.
Potato salad will be fine I am sure. I do think 2 others have said they are bringing that though.
See you there
My phone # is 209-667-6667

Thank you, Dyann! I will have PP's for you when you are ready for them! I'm dreaming about a house in the country, too! See you tomorrow!!!

My daughters are asking me if there are going to be kids there tomorrow. I thought it would be a nice idea if we could let our kids "see" who will be there...early introductons. I'll start...
