This is Stormy, hatched by my daughter's teacher for the classroom (via Zoom). Named Stormy for surviving a storm induced power outage in the incubator. About 6 weeks old, was told it could be a Welsh Harlequin x Rouen or Welsh Harlequin x Cayuga. I'm thinking Rouen because I have three more (half siblings maybe, gotten after the aforementioned power outage) from the same teacher that were hatched two weeks later that are definitely Cayuga crosses (they're feathering out black at ~3 weeks).

Anyway, looking at Rouen ducks, does this one look female? Do Rouen drakes and ducks look like this at first? Still can't tell from quacking yet.

Fingers crossed for a female, don't plan on keeping drakes.

This photo shows the coloration a bit better, hard to take photos by yourself 🤣

If no quacks by 6 weeks most likely a drake and a very handsome one. Why won’t you keep a drake?
The concern is not having enough ducks for drakes. No idea what my three littler ones are. I might be able to keep him if the others are ducks. I already have 10 chickens and 3 guineas, not wanting to add anyone else right now to get the ratio right. Only really want to keep 2 of them, but I'm waiting to see if we can determine sex first.

The thought came from looking at pics of adult Rouens. The coloration looks like the females. Do the drakes look like this before getting their adult coloring? I know since it's mixed it might present differently.

I am pretty sure they all look like that at first, my Rouen looked just like yours and I thought it was a female, when it got older I could tell by it's voice it was a male
Thank you! I've never had a duck before (never intended to before the teacher asked someone to take it 🤦)
