Previously I have crossed crested cream legbar with black copper marans to get sex linked olive eggers. Unfortunately I lost my crested cream leg bar roo this year.

I'm wondering if an opal leg bar is considered a barring gene and would crossing an opal leg bar with a black copper marans create a sex linked chick?

Yes, The Opal Legbars are barred and autosexing just like the Cream Legbars. You don't use a Barred Male to make sexlinks though. You used barred females. Eggs from Opal Legbar hens crossed to a Black Copper Maran Rooster will produce black sex-links. The males will be barred which will produce a white spot on the head of the boys. The females will be all non-barred and will lack the white head spot. If you use an opal legbar rooster and black copper marans hens you will NOT get sexlinks. All the chicks will be barred and have the white head spot. You won't be able to sex them for 4-6 weeks.
