Black sex links can be made by using barred breed hens, barred rocks, cuckoos Marans, Dutch Hollands, or California Greys.

So how do you make black sex links

You can make Black Sex Links by crossing any solid color rooster except white with any barred hen. Male chicks will have a white spot on top of the head and female chicks will lack the white spot on top of the head. The standard hatchery Black Sex Links are produced by crossing RIR roosters with Barred Rock hens and they are very friendly and hardy, egg laying machines, consistently churning out more than 300 large brown eggs per hen per year with double yolks not being uncommon.
