What gene/genes are sex-linked in salmon Faverolles? Is it dominant or recessive? If you cross a Faverolles roo to another breed hen that does not have the trait, won't it show up in the F1 or F2 generations?
I know what sex-linkage is, I can do Punnett squares and I am aware that the hens are xz and the roos are zz or xy hen and xx roo, just don't know anything about the trait.

the Only Sex Linked gene the Faverolle birds have is the "Dominant Sex Linked Silver Gene" thats alll..

could you produce a Sexlink cross with Salmon Faverolle birds mated to another bird?.. Yes.....

here is how

Cross a RIR rooster with a Salmon Faverolle Hen and you will get sex link chicks... Redish chicks will be pullets and Silver/yellow chicks will be males.

That answers my question very well!!! I wan't interested in down colors but feather color when they get about 1 month old. My hens are all Silkies of several different colors, my roo a SF. All of my chicks hatched either black based with black skin or white based with pink/white skin. However there appears to be both sexes in both colors.

TY that answered my question. My roo is a SF and the hens were different colors of Silkies. I hatched out mostly black based, and white based chicks. The black ones have black or gray shanks and toes, the whites have pink/yellow. There appears that there will be both sexes in both colors. The whites have more head feathers, are fluffier in general, have heavier feathered foot and leg shanks. They have more beard and more muff.

I really like these better so I am selling off the dark ones. I like the heavier feathers and fluff and the blue in a few of them. This one has fewer leg and toe feathers than the other white ones.

I want o clean up the brown out of this

I really think the splashes of several of the dark one's breasts

This one is going to have more feathers and there is one cuckoo colored.

There are 4 black chicks with no feathers on their back or shoulders. I hope these are just slow coming in?????

Guess I should start that as another thread.
