Yes, absolutely reliable.I did this cross about 4 years ago and use a resulting cockerel to start a line of Welbars.

Thank you! It's not completely dry yet, but what I saw when it hatched was all black (solid head) and what appeared to be a little bit of yellow around the butt?? Maybe was just messy... It's sleeping now.. I will check when my kids wake up.

I checked the chart but didn't see BCM listed. Is a BCM roo "gold". I have Dorking and Delaware and Cuckoo girls. I am sure that this info is somewhere in here but a search yielded too many pages of hits to wade through thanks in advance

BCM work for black sexlinks, but due to the dominant nature of the birchen pattern, they are a poor choice for red sexlinks.

Think about what color Black Copper Marans are at hatch. They are black. You can't see silver or gold base color on a chick with black down. It's not until they are feathered in that you can see the color in the neck feathers.
