Hello to all. I have never owned a chicken and thought this would be fun.
Someone gave me 6 two year old sex-link chickens. One was separated because they pecked her. Last week I saw one of the 5 in a corner laying down, her comb was purple and it looked like she was having trouble breathing. I took her out and put her in a separate cage. All was going well, color came back to comb. Then Friday when I got home she was dead. All the others look okay but I know very little about chickens. Anyone have the same problem?

It's not uncommon for a chicken to just die. Being a sexlink - they tend to have reproductive problems - brought on from their heavy laying during their first two years. She may have been egg bound

I'm sorry for your loss. It's hard to say what may have caused her death, drumstick diva is right...sometimes it just happens or she could have been egg bound.

I hope the rest of your birds are doing well.
