Sex-links

Which variety of sex-link has a better personality and is a better egg layer, Black or Red? Or does it not matter?

Having had both, I'd say it doesn't matter, just choose your favorite color.

Hello! I have both and they are both extremely friendly and loving...so I would say it doesn't matter.

Thanks! I think I like the red better color-wise but wanted you guys' opinons as I have never had a chicken in my life! In fact when I was younger I was scared of chickens!

I think my Blacks are friendlier but my reds are better layers

Dear Llama chick...

well, we have had both, and to be perfectly honest, the reds lay better, but they are super hyper if kept in coops (not allowed to free range) The blacks are less hyper, but average production is every other day. Our red sexlink laid 2 eggs, then nezt da 1 egg. then 3rd day nothing.. then she started all over again!

We just gave away our red sexlink hen and rooster and the 2 chicks they recently had.. believe it or not.. hatched 2 of their eggs in bator and we got 2 chicks.. one male, one female. The male is white, looks like a splash.. the female is buff, starting to turn to rust with buff undercolor. So, in this case, even tho they are hybreds, they did breed true!

But, prefer temperament of black sexlink we kept our black sexlink.
