Sex Me - EE

You might need to wait a bit to tell for sure, but I am leaning toward roo. My EE's aren't all that much younger and have much smaller comb's than the one pictured here. Is it showing a hint of pink already?

Really? I'm not sure about that...there were a couple of threads on here, probably around a year ago, when we were discussing sexing the EEs and a few of the EE and Americauna people weighed in and said the EEs with the laced bodies and different colored heads were almost always pullets while the males were usually solid with random blotches of color here and there. There were a bunch of people who posted pics of their own birds as examples.

And my own experience with EEs has been the same, every single one that has the lacing pattern has been female, even the ones that started out with larger combs than the others.

Now, I guess it could just be a coincidence or maybe something to do with the birds that the hatcheries use for their breeding programs as someone suggested earlier.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I did not mean that I was suggesting that EEs were sex-linked or auto sexing, since that would mean females were always that color and vice versa. Obviously there are also solid colored EE pullets out there as well (I happen to have two, one white and one black).

Just saying that the laced ones in particular seem to almost always turn out to be girls.

This one started to crow at about 7 weeks (If you can call it a crow). its very cute. The comb is bigger than my other EE, big heavy feet.

So if you said Roo, you're right. I'll post some pics later.

I'd love to see pics. I have an EE that began crowing (I THINK it was a crow...) at 4 weeks. I'd like to see yours now and compare.

Are you absolutely sure that this chick is an EE? Does it have a pea comb? It almost looks like it has a straight comb in the picture and I don't see any muffs/beard. When you post your pics, can you include one of the entire body, including legs?

Awww drat. I can't see the video!!!

I am not on facebook; and not looking to sign up any time soon. It would have been really neat though, to have heard a baby crow!!!

Can't wait to hear one of mine crow. They are 5 weeks old now ...have heard some chirps but no crow and I know I have at least 8 roosters in this batch.
