I'm pretty sure my Welsummer is female and the coloring on my Faverolles seem right. Just want to see if everyone is looking female so far. Faverolle

I've noticed that not only do all my chicks seems to get decent sized combs fairly early, as do my sisters chicks and yet the coloring on the Faverolles, Welsummer and Barred Rock my sister has all suggest female. Do HQ chicks tend to develop larger combs? Oh and the Faverolles and Brahma are both about 3 weeks

It is too young to tell gender for sure. However, the coloring on your Faverolles is look pullety. And yes, hatchery birds tend to develop larger combs faster.

The Faverolles looks like a pullet, a cockerel should have black on his wings, the boys get dark feathers on their chest and shoulders.

The chicks are about 5 1/2-6 weeks old. The Faverolles is definitely a girl I'm just hoping the brahma is as well. My only concern is the large comb. It's not pink at all and has no wattles but I already ended up with 2 of my 5 pullets being boys so I'm a little worried.
