Hi all,

I hatched some chicks twelve weeks ago, I hatched: 4 millefleurs, 1 Maran, and six silkies. I have sexed the millefleurs and maran; however, I am struggling with the silkies. Personally, I think there are three pullets and three roosters.

This is our fist hatch, for silkies, and we have many more hatching so any guidance/tips would be useful. I know one of the grey ones crows sometimes but I’m not sure which one.

Personally, I though the two golden ones are female and one of the grey ones. The rest I believe are male?

Hi all,

This morning when filling up their water, I heard bird 5 and bird 2 ( not too sure ) having a cockadoodledoo off. Does this guarantee that they are cockerels?

I’d say that means they are cockerels. But to be sure if you see it again take a video of it and share it.

I was going to guess all pullets until I read this! Those sneaky little buggers. Yes that means you have a boy.

If it makes you feel any better, I consider myself a pretty good guess at Silkie genders and I was recently fooled by one of my own too. I heard crowing and I still don’t know who it was.
