Sexing 4 month old Cochin

Was supposed to be a rooster, but I'm not seeing the typical feathering I've learned to recognize as male in other breeds. Sorry for the low quality pictures - he won't let get close to him.

Looks like a pullet to me. By four months that comb should be bigger and the male pattern feathering you are talking about should be showing if it were a roo.

Late blooming cockerel. Cochins don’t get that red that early. My seven month pullet is just getting red and laying now.

I can't see the saddle area too well to check for male-specific plumage. Do you have any other pictures?

Large breed or bantam? If its a large breed then it is a cockerel. Large breed Cochins are slow developing.
