Sexing Barred Rocks

Pics
I lost my BR to a neighborhood dog so I got two more ... what do you think? When they were young I was so sure that I had a boy and a girl but now they are kind of looking like each other ...

Well the pictures maybe are not so good. I believe the first two is one of them and the other two is the other one! lol! if that makes any sense. I can tell them apart when I look at them because one is much bigger than the other ... is that a clue? Should I consider the bigger one a roo? Their combs/wattles(what they have) are very similar in size and color. Their color is very similar. What do you think? They are about 7 weeks old here. Thanks!

Is my barred rock a girl or a boy? (2 mos old)

I'm no expert but I think your baby may be a boy.I have 2 hens that are the same age right now that are much darker(more black than white in the feathers) in color and have much smaller combs.they also have a different shape body, they seem chunkier or something.I wasn't sure myself of the sex of mine because of all the conflicting info on the web until I started reading this thread and posted a few pics but now i'm starting to see the differences.

I researched forever before adding two BR to my existing flock because I already have a roo who I am pretty sure will kill any new roos. I was sure I could pick two pullets, but now they look different and I think Angie might be Angelo. Can anyone help?

Angie at about a week or two

poco loco at about a week or so

poco loco

poco loco on the left at about 2-3 weeks

Poco Loco ( because she is truly crazy) is bigger and darker, but Angie the runt is lighter and has a more defined comb. Any help is appreciated. Of course the one I think is a roo is the sweetest, friendliest and bravest of all.

poco loco 4-5 weeks

Sorry to say, but Angie is Angelo. With the lighter coloring, comb growth and the tail itself, yes that is a roo. Where did you get them from? If purchased from a feed store, they are hatchery chicks and you can throw the "guidelines" to tell them apart right out the window. I found that out the hard way!!!!!!

Oh no! I did buy them from a feed store. Out of 7 chicks, I think I have at least 2 roos. Angie is my favorite. My experience has been that the cockerels are always the sweetest .
