Sexing Buttercup and favorelles Chicks

At what age can u tell gender in these chicks? i know its by feather color, But what age do u start seeing a difference

On my Buttercups, which were all supposed to be pullets (I have 5), one of them had a different comb and got wattles a little before 4 weeks. I couldn't tell any difference in their feather colors.

It depends on the breed, the breeding, and the individual chick.

For example, Cochins generally tend to produce male chicks that will shoot up their little combs right away by 4 weeks. While Wyandottes are notoriously difficult to gender ID until 16 weeks.

And that can change if the breeder or hatchery is tinkering with the genetics of the line one way or another.

Then there's always the individual chicks that are the outliers. Your best bet is to post pics here and to read about your particular breed.

My male buttercup sprouted a huge comb before my 2 females.

ok. i hope i have at least some boys. I bought them at Pullets. I got 4 of each in hope that some are boys. Ill post pics once they feather out a little more

right now they are small
