sexing chicks

Well I haven't bought them yet. I almost went ahead and bought some but I have no way top get rid of the roos if they end up that way. If I knew someone then I would buy them. I'll check youtube and see if I can learn anything more.

whoa... when I bought my silkies 3 days ago from the feed store they were only a couple days old max but they told me they were pullets, but from what I understand here, they are too little to tell. Would the feed store have been able to check somehow or was it a newbie mistake?

silkies are notoriously hard to sex. If they sold you silkies as sexed pullets, you got rolled. Even experienced silkie breeders have trouble figuring it out, even up until the birds either crow or lay an egg.

aw man! well, I guess I need to figure out how to sex them when they're older then. I guess no matter what hobbie or activity you start, you start as an amature and get taken. I got them from a very well known and popular feed store, so I am surprised they would advertize them as pullets.

the more I think about this, the more I am stressing out about it! Ok so I figure in a couple of weeks I'll post pics so someone could tell me if I have a roo or not. But I am already jumping ahead to the what-if.

A lot of you are going to laugh at my question or roll your eyes, but seriously I don't know! Could a silkie roo and an easter egger have chicks? And if I decided not to keep a roo, what would he go for? I bought the chicks for $8 each.

I can't tell you how much all this information helps! Thank you to everyone that has answered my questions- and so nicely!
